John Shirikian is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Association of California Life and Health Insurance Companies (ACLHIC). As CEO, he leads the association’s policy, advocacy, and member engagement efforts, representing the industry before the California Legislature, the California Department of Insurance, and other state policymakers. In this role, he works closely with senior leadership at the Department and members of the Legislature on issues affecting California’s life and health insurance marketplace.

John began his career in Washington, D.C. in 2005, working for a Member of Congress on Capitol Hill. He returned to California in 2007 and joined ACLHIC, where he served as the association’s Political Director. In 2013, he joined Pacific Life Insurance Company in Newport Beach as Director of Government Affairs, where he led the company’s California state legislative affairs strategy.

John returned to ACLHIC in 2017 as Vice President of Policy and Administration. In July 2019, ACLHIC’s membership elected him to serve as the association’s President and CEO.

A native Californian, John holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
